Avocado Hummus

I love making dips but I have yet to make a hummus...until now. This particular dip is eaten in places like Greece, Cyprus and North Africa. I love hummus however, it is even better when you add something extra like lemon, chilli pepper or bell peppers. For my first attempt, I used my absolute fave avocado.

Moreover, the avocado hummus didn’t disappoint in colour, texture and flavour. There are many adaptations of this recipe. I am looking forward to trying other hummus dips, which would definitely be uploaded here in the future.

Prep:10 mins
Serves: 5

-1 tin of chick peas

-2 avocados

-1 tsp garlic paste

-1/2 tsp coriander

-1 Tbsp Tahini

-3 Tbsp oil (olive oil is preferable)

-1 Lime

-1/4 tsp cumin

-Chipotle chilli flakes for garnish (hot chilli powder work well too)

-Salt and Pepper to taste

  1. Drain the chick peas and place in a food processor or blender.

  2. Blend the chickpeas until pureed.

  3. Cut two avocados into halves.

  4. Add 3 tbsp of olive oil to the chick peas.

  5. Add 1 Tbsp tahini of the pulsed mixture.

  6. Blend with the chickpeas until smooth.

  7. Add the cumin, garlic paste, salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Serve on dish or bowl.
